A brand new world don’t grow on trees…

Continuing on from yesterday’s post, where I finished by saying:

But our world, our world full of God’s wonders, is a fragile place. We need to work at trying to keep it the place of beauty and wonder it is. And that’s going to take effort from all of us. We each of us need to continue to do “our bit” — as small as that “bit” seems sometimes. Every little bit will help!

Steve Hearn, a great artist and a regular commenter on this blog, has allowed me to use one of his cartoons (Thanks Steve), which carries an important message.

We all need to do our bit, because the world we have now is the only one we’ve got to work with. A brand new world don’t grow on trees…

If you want to see more of Steve’s work, and it’s well worth looking at, do visit his website and his blog.

  1. Thanks for posting this, Paul! Great artwork, Steve!

You know, I have prayed often as I go thru the Prayers of the People, that the Bride of Christ would one day be known as the #1 catalyst in protecting Creation. What a way for us to let our Light shine!

Paul, pleased to see the cartoon worked out Ok for your blog and thank you Tom for your very kind words. My blog today has a cartoon I just did of the now famous animal, the Moose…. all because of Mrs Palin! Weird!

That would be quite something Tom. Although I’m not sure that the Church could be the #1 catalyst now, there are other organisations that have been trying to do something far more visibly and for longer than the Church. But that doesn’t mean there isn’t a big role left for the Church in the protection of Creation — and it’s really good that we are now waking up to that, and trying.

The cartoon looks great on here Steve. I’m really pleased to have got the opportunity to show a piece of your work, thank you for drawing it, and for the message it contains. I shall wend my way across to your blog and have a look at your Moose.

that is a really good cartoon, and it is a really important message!
did you watch the local news tonight dad? About the recycling from around here going to tips in India instead? Its terrible…

No Sam, I didn’t see that. But I’ve just done some searching to try and read about it, and I’m horrified by what I’ve found. It looks like unsorted recyclables are being shipped from quite a lot of this country to places like India — and some of it, a lot of it, is being dumped on farmland there. Here’s a link to the Mail Online which is carrying the story!
