May Peace Prevail on Earth

May Peace Prevail on Earth

Today is the United Nations International Day of Peace, “Peace Day”. I first mentioned it in a post back in June. There is a great deal of information about the background to the day, and how you can get involved on their website, here.

“Peace Day should be devoted to commemorating and strengthening the ideals of peace both within and among all nations and peoples…This day will serve as a reminder to all peoples that our organization, with all its limitations, is a living instrument in the service of peace and should serve all of us here within the organization as a constantly pealing bell reminding us that our permanent commitment, above all interests or differences of any kind, is to peace.”

“Better than a thousand hollow words is the one that brings peace”

Almighty God,
from whom all thoughts of truth and peace proceed:
kindle, we pray, in the hearts of all, the true love of peace
and guide with your pure and peaceable wisdom
those who take counsel for the nations of the earth
that in tranquillity your kingdom may go forward,
till the earth is filled with the knowledge of your love;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
