When the hard-standing was laid in our garden, our patch of Mint was covered over. But some of it survived and has found its way through a joint in the concrete. It always amazes me to think that it was covered completely with lots of hard-core and a thick slab of concrete. Even more amazing, though, is that somehow a Marigold has set itself in the tiny bit of soil (or plant debris) that is there, and isn’t choked by the Mint which will obviously flourish anywhere. That bright orange flower looks so cheerful against the green of the Mint.
I took this picture this morning — the Marigolds are staying in flower late this year.
