Friday Foto

One of my Christmas presents — from my eldest daughter and her partner — was a tripod for my camera. I haven’t used a tripod since I sold all of my 35mm camera gear many years ago; and had forgotten how liberating it can be to use one. This is a picture I took this week, taking advantage of the natural light coming through the window, which needed a much slower shutter speed than I could have successfully hand-held the camera for. Using flash would have thrown harsh shadows onto the curtain behind the silk sunflowers, and flattened the colour of the petals.. I’m quite pleased with the result, especially as it’s the first time I’ve been able to set something like this up for years.
