The picture below was taken on my trip to Walsingham earlier in the year. It’s a splendid steelmesh sculpture, and hangs in the Barn Chapel. It was made in 1988 by David Begbie. One thing you can’t see from this picture is what it looks like at night. They have some great lighting on it. While I was in Walsingham, I spent several hours in the Barn Chapel. It was usually quiet, and a lovely place for prayer. But I couldn’t take my eyes off that amazing sculpture.

I don’t know what the significance of the lack of hands was meant to be, and possibly, as with much artwork, the significance is what the viewer makes it. For me, it reminded me that we are now Christ’s hands, and are to do his work.
