I came across this little chap while exploring in the garden this week. Ever since I was a kid I’ve always liked to see Ladybirds — except when they suddenly arrive in huge numbers and blanket everything. I always count the spots when I see one on its own like this. They fascinate me. There’s a great article on Wikipedia about Ladybirds.

What a nice nickname – ‘ladybirds.’ We yanks call ‘em ladybugs. I imagine they like ladybirds better. :)

Years ago when I lived in Michigan I encountered my first and only ladybug swarm. They covered everything. I felt guilty walking anywhere – crunch crunch crunch. :(

We have never had such a swarm here in Utah (to my knowledge).

Hope things went (or are going) well at the doctors. :)

Thanks Kay. It seemed to go okay. I’m tired, but hopeful. So we just have to wait and see now.

I like the name ‘ladybird’ better; ‘ladybug’ implies something distasteful, which they aren’t normally — only when they swarm.
