When I was wandering around at Grafham Water recently, I came across this Moth. I don’t recall ever seeing one of these before, but, if I’m right, that’s probably not surprising. I think it’s Cinnabar Moth. It is generally nocturnal, but can be disturbed during the day from long grass, and low herbage etc. So they would normally only be seen at night, and, I guess, not around built up areas — I wondered why it didn’t fly away.
