<p><span class="drop-cap">T</span>his is a picture of the altar in the Lady Chapel at Ely Cathedral. Behind the altar you can see the remains of what, I imagine, would have been a truly magnificent reredos. But this, like the rest of the statuary and decoration in the chapel, was destroyed in the sixteenth century during the Reformation &#8212; which, in keeping with Puritan convictions, rejected all forms of religious decoration. It must have looked very different in there when the Lady Chapel was completed in 1349.</p>

<p>There is a great deal to see at the Cathedral, and I could happily spend many days there, just soaking up the atmosphere. <p>All being well, I&#8217;ll be at the Cathedral tomorrow. Our curate is to be priested at the ordination service taking place. I&#8217;m really looking forward to supporting Mary as she takes this next step in her ministry.</p>
