This is one of my favourite pictures from my ongoing #photoaday challenge. It’s one of those whimsical resin figures bought by children, and belonged to one of my daughters. Each month, the group I’m doing this challenge as a part of run a themed competition, and I’ve taken this picture to enter into that. This month’s theme is ‘Bokeh’ — which is what that out-of-focus background is called.

This is one of my favourite pictures from my ongoing #photoaday challenge. I’m trying, occasionally, to do something a little different, and more abstract. This is the top of my car after a bit of rain in the night.

Surprisingly, I’m still going strong with my #photoaday project — I know we’re not yet a month into the year, but I’ve already managed more that I honestly expected to. And, best of all, I’m still enjoying it. In fact, the enjoyment is growing — possibly aided by the fact I’m really enjoying interacting with, and learning from, others doing the same challenge on Flickr. This is my favourite of the last week’s offerings.

This is one of the Pink Gerbera’s our daughter bought us. I’m still managing my #photoaday project, much to my surprise — but we are only twenty days in — this is one of my favourites so far.

Wednesday was a sad day, we buried my wife’s sister — she died over Christmas. This is a picture of one of the blooms in the wreath we bought to go on the grave. Liz and I went to the grave yesterday to look at the flowers, and just spend some time there. I took the picture then.

I’m pleased with the photograph, despite the sadness of the reason for the flowers — it’s my favourite of the #photoaday pictures I’ve taken in the last week.

I am attempting to revive my photography this year. One of things I’m doing is attempting a photo each day, which I’m adding (full size) to my Flickr account. If you follow me on Twitter, you’ll have seen me tweet what I’ve done so far on the ‘#photoaday’ tag. This is, I think, the best of what I’ve done this week. It’s the Alder tree at the bottom of our garden.

I was doing a little of the autumn pruning in the garden last week when I came across this spider preparing his next meal — he’d obviously been busy for a while, but nowhere near finished. And, of course, it had to go into my camera.

This is something of a milestone post on the blog — it is the thousandth! I had intended to do much more with it, but health has, yet again, taken a bit of a nosedive, so plans haven’t worked out. But I made this graphic to at least mark it.

The colour of the early evening light shining into my study recently was pretty spectacular. So much so, that I just had to get the camera out and try to capture it. I don’t think the picture really does it full justice, but I’m still quite pleased with it. It was taken from our garden, in the middle of the Oxmoor in Huntingdon.

I like all varieties of Fuchsia. Some of the more exotic, double and triple, ones are very attractive. But, the relative simplicity of these hardy Fuchsia’s I came across recently are really quite pretty, and the colours are stunning.

We have a small patch of Mint growing in the garden. It doesn’t get used anywhere near as much as it should, though I do make some mint-sauce with it occasionally. But I do like the smell of it when I brush against some as I go to the car. Some of it has started to go to seed and flower a bit at the moment. They’re a lovely delicate lilac in colour.
